About the St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit ~

The St. Andrew’s Society of Detroit (SASD) was founded in 1849 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  The SASD is the oldest benevolent organization in the State of Michigan.

During the early years, there were several meeting locations around Detroit. On August 3, 1907, the cornerstone was laid for the building now known as St. Andrew’s Hall, located at 431 E. Congress St. in Detroit. The first meeting at that location was on January 18, 1908.

Thanks to a generous benefactor (the Kilgour family), the Society’s membership elected to purchase our new home and banquet facility located at 2363 Rochester Road in Troy, Michigan. Our Grand Opening was held in October, 2010.

The Society has provided gifts and grants of over $300,000 since being in our new home to charitable organizations throughout Michigan, the United States, and Europe.
