Founded in the year 1849, St. Andrew's Society of Detroit is a 501c3 non-profit organization and is the oldest benevolent organization in the State of Michigan. Our mission is to provide assistance to fellow Scots and to encourage the love of Scotland through its history, customs, music, literature and national games.

Highland Games

Highland Games
Our 163nd Highland Games were held at Historic Greenmead in Livonia, on August 3-4, 2012 and was another successful event. Keep an eye on this page for information about our 164th Highland Games, to be held at Historic Greenmead in Livonia, on August 2nd & 3rd 2013.
SAS Events

The Conference was held at the Kilgour Scottish Centre in Troy, MI, on the weekend of Friday, October 26, 2012, through Sunday, October 28, 2012, as the St. Andrew's Society of Detroit hosts the 10th Annual North American Scottish Leadership Conference. Leaders of Scottish organizations from the USA, Canada, and Scotland gathered to discuss new ideas relevant to our theme -- "Engaging our Next Generation."

St. Andrews 2013 Events:


- Our Burns Pub Night was held on Saturday, January 26th.

- Our Super Bowl Party was held enjoyed by the many that attended

- The Music Hall presented an evening with The Scots Guard and The Black Watch on Saturday, Feburary 9, 2013 at 8 PM. Our President, Michael Gordon spoke at the performance.

- Our annual Friday Night Fish Fries were a success this year.

- A Tartan Day Charity Event was held on Friday, April 5th.

- Our Annual Tartan Day Ceilidh was held on Saturday, April 6th.

- Our Annual Highland Games are scheduled on Saturday, August 3rd, with our Ceilidh celebration on Friday evening August 2, 2013.

- The annual Kirkin' of the Tartans will be held at the Jefferson Avenue Presbyterian Church at 8625 E. Jefferson Ave in Detroit on Sunday, November 17, 2013.
